The 49ers on Tuesday announced five players were placed on injury lists upon the early reporting date for training camp.
The positive news is defensive back Jimmie Ward and defensive lineman Darnell Dockett, neither of whom particpated in the 49ers’ offseason program due to season-ending injuries of 2014, were medically cleared for on-field work.
Ward, the 49ers’ first-round draft pick last year, saw his rookie season come to an end when he re-fractured his right foot in a November game against the New Orleans Saints. He was the 49ers’ nickel back as a rookie.
Dockett’s final season with the Arizona Cardinals ended before it began when he tore his right ACL on Aug.
