WALNUT CREEK —- Two weeks after vandals wreaked havoc on Contra Costa Christian Schools’ soggy athletic field, the San Francisco 49ers have stepped in to make repairs.
Members of the football team’s groundskeeping crew were at the school Feb. 6, rolling and seeding the soccer field damaged last month after someone drove destructive donuts over the water-logged grass in two separate acts of vandalism.
The team plans to return next week to spread topsoil and more seed, said principal Chris Winters. The field could be ready for action in two to four weeks rather than the weeks and months administrators feared.
