NFL officials have approved the use of game footage for a film 49ers players made 30 years ago as a tribute to three alumni who died from ALS.
NFL Films officials told the producer of the documentary Tuesday that she can use some old footage for an upcoming fundraiser for the ALS Association.
The campaign had ended in 1990 when Julia Hutton, the producer, couldn’t get permission to use any game footage or photographs for a project to honor Matt Hazeltine, Gary Lewis and Bob Waters, 1960s teammates who died from Lou Gehrig’s disease in the late ‘80s.
