LOS ANGELES — Tom Ramsey, for a moment, took off his ESPN hat and returned to his Bruin roots. While on assignment covering last year’s Cactus Bowl for ESPN radio, the former UCLA quarterback-turned-ESPN analyst veered into the athletic director’s suite. He had a message for Dan Guerrero.
Thank you.
For years, the Bruins never seemed to get their first choice for a football head coach since Terry Donahue retired in 1995. Then Ramsey, the 1983 Rose Bowl co-MVP, watched Guerrero introduce Chip Kelly as UCLA’s 17th head football coach on Nov. 27 and it suddenly made the struggles easier to bear.
