I recently spoke to former 49ers head coach George Seifert for this story on pass-rushing force Charles Haley, who will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday.
Seifert, 75, was the 49ers defensive coordinator when the Haley arrived in 1986 as a fourth-round pick from James Madison. Seifert was either the defensive coordinator or head coach for Haley’s first six years before the 49ers dealt him to the Cowboys before the 1992 season.
As detailed in the story, Seifert and Haley have since repaired their relationship, which deteriorated during Haley’s stormy tenure with the team.
