We continue our pre-bowl season breakdown of the top prospects at positional rankings of note for the 49ers. Today, we take a look at another pressing need on the offensive side of the ball, the offensive line positions.
As we get closer to a year in review for the 49ers’ offensive lineman position, results show some need of improvement with inconsistent play plaguing the unit, namely at guard and center. As a collective, the unit has done a good job, but there is always room for improvement. The bookends at tackle have done well with Mike McGlinchey showing great promise and Joe Staley still playing with the passion that drives his success, although Staley’s eventual replacement could be in the cards.
