The announced paid attendance to watch Sunday’s game at Levi's Stadium was 70,799. In reality, perhaps a little more than half of the ticketholders attended.
Sure, the 49ers’ 24-14 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals was not exactly entertaining – even if you’re a Bengals fan. The highlight might have come at halftime when Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, Roger Craig and others, including 49ers running backs coach Tom Rathman, were on the field for a ceremony to honor the 1981 and ’88 Super Bowl champions – teams that won their respective Lombardi Trophy against the Bengals.
The 49ers are a long way from Super Bowl form, as Sunday's game proved.
