Tomsula’s on role in practice skirmish: ‘I thought I was going to be a tow truck’

When it comes to practice skirmishes between his players, Jim Tomsula has said he’s a traffic cop.

On Tuesday, however, the 49ers head coach had to get between defensive tackle Cornelius Carradine. Weight: 295. Nickname: Tank.

Tomsula admitted he had to ditch his traffic-cop role: “I thought I was going to be a tow truck.”

A dust-up between Carradine and an unidentified teammate on the sideline was one of several minor skirmishes that broke out Tuesday. The other combatants: offensive tackle Patrick Miller and linebacker Shayne Skov; wideout DiAndre Campbell and cornerback Dontae Johnson and right tackle Erik Pears and linebacker Nick Moody.
