Things haven’t gone to script for the San Francisco 49ers offense through four weeks. The loss of Trey Lance threw a year-plus of preparation in the toilet, and probably lowered the unit's ceiling. Sophomore running back Elijah Mitchell was sidelined in the opener with an injury and won’t return for months. All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams is hurt as well, and for good measure his replacement just went down and will be “out for a while,” according to Kyle Shanahan.
Then there’s George Kittle.
The Niners’ All-Pro tight end missed the first two games with a groin injury, and his absence might have stung worst of all.
