Left tackle Trent Williams (toe) and safety Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) were surprise additions to the 49ers’ injury report Friday, as each missed practice. Both are questionable for Sunday’s game against the Patriots, head coach Kyle Shanahan said after Friday’s practice.
Williams has played in all three games for the 49ers so far but has had to leave in the middle of two of them to receive an intravenous injection to replenish fluids. Williams is at least partially attributing the slow start to his lengthy contract holdout, according to Fox reporter Kristina Pink. Still, it’s unclear exactly how Williams injured his toe.
