San Francisco 49ers star Christian McCaffrey has been out for the entire regular season so far with an Achilles injury that seemingly got worse each week. But news appears to finally be turning positive for the Niners.
McCaffrey is eligible to return from the injured list after Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. And while ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Saturday that McCaffrey won’t be activated for Week 6’s Thursday game at the Seattle Seahawks, the Niners are growing encouraged by the recovery process.
"McCaffrey's return depends on how he fares in practice, but for now, there is some mild encouragement because the three-time Pro Bowler's calf and Achilles issues did not flare up after on-field work this week — his first on-field work since being placed on IR, according to league sources,” Schefter wrote on Saturday.
