Up until the final whistle on Sunday, Brock Purdy was best known as the 2022 NFL Draft's Mr. Irrelevant, or maybe for his crude nickname. After the 49ers' 35-7 undressing of the Bucs on Sunday, he could be more than a novelty.
The new Niners starter ran laps around the expectations for him, was far better than frickin' Tom Brady, and brought his own father to tears. Not bad for a guy who came into camp fighting Nate Sudfeld for a roster spot.
He went 16 for 21 for 185 yards and two touchdowns, plus a third rushing.
