Looks like the San Francisco 49ers need to find another reserve quarterback.
Welp, that was quick. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Thad Lewis suffered a lower leg injury in the preseason opener, and Adam Schefter is reporting it to be a torn ACL. He will have surgery and be done for the year.
His injury leaves the 49ers with Blaine Gabbert, Colin Kaepernick, and Jeff Driskel as their only quarterbacks. Once the team places Lewis on injured reserve (they also have to place Eric Rogers on IR), I would think they will sign another quarterback. Kaepernick is dealing with arm fatigue, and even if he is good to go this week, the team will want a fourth QB to take reps.
