While Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara will bask in Super Bowl 50 glory this weekend, San Francisco’s Candlestick Park — where the 49ers spent their five championship seasons — has been reduced to a pile of rubble to make way for a shopping center.
Now, thanks to time-lapse photography, we bring you the eight-month-long demolition of the ‘Stick in just 40 seconds — courtesy of the developer, Lennar, and its demolition team, Silverado Contractors.
The site once was envisioned for a new NFL stadium. Now, in addition to the shopping, it will also feature about 6,000 homes, a San Francisco State satellite campus, an artist’s community and more than 200 acres of parks.
