It’s NFL Draft season, and the San Francisco 49ers are hoping the 2017 additions wind up being exponentially better than anything put together over the past four-plus seasons.
They need it.
Coming off a 2-14 season, it doesn’t take much to see how far the Niners have fallen since being a three-time NFC contender and one-time conference representative in the Super Bowl.
And yet those years seem forever ago.
Super Bowl XLVII might be a distant memory, considering how bad things have gotten for the red and gold. But it’s impossible to overlook just how stacked that team was — the one which was a Michael Crabtree fade-route reception away from a sixth Lombardi Trophy.
