Day 7 is in the books for the San Francisco 49ers. The one-sided practices dominating the early portions of training camp have faded in favor of more competitive matchups. Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo was solid, throwing a pair of touchdowns but came close to committing his first turnover of the summer. More on that below.

The 49ers have eased Hurd into action as he absorbs the nuances of both the receiver position and the pace of professional football. Saturday was a step in the right direction with Hurd showing well during 1-on-1 drills in the red zone, out-muscling cornerbacks for the ball.
