The San Francisco 49ers announced on Wednesday that they have promoted wide receiver Steven Dunbar, Jr. to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. He is taking the roster spot that was held by safety Jaquiski Tartt prior to going on injured reserve. The 49ers made the move due to Dante Pettis’ season-ending MCL sprain, and the questionable nature of Marquise Goodwin’s calf contusion.
The move is of note for another reason. As noted by Cam Inman and Matt Maiocco, Dunbar is officially the final person from the team’s season-opening ten-man practice squad to get a crack at a 53-man roster.
