Steve Young had one of his frequent KNBR appearances on Wednesday and of course, some of the talk went to the direction the San Francisco 49ers are taking by hiring John Lynch and (presumably) Kyle Shanahan.
Young isn’t afraid to speak his mind on the organization. If the team is brought up on ESPN, you’ll get a candid, though polite response on whatever the subject is.
That’s why his answer to the John Lynch hiring is very interesting. In one answer, Young highlights what made the 49ers great, what took them to the depths of mediocrity, that brief breath of greatness with Jim Harbaugh, and back to the depths.
