Steve Young: 49ers looked 'almost impossible to beat' in Week 1

It didn’t take long for San Francisco 49ers legend Steve Young to see what he needed to see.

Young made his weekly appearance on KNBR’s “Tolbert and Copes” radio show Wednesday and said the way the 49ers operated in their opener Monday night against the Jets is “almost impossible to beat.”

For Young, the biggest key to Monday’s success was the 49ers running game, even with Christian McCaffrey out, as Jordan Mason’s 147 yards on 28 carries led the team. That sets up quarterback Brock Purdy to play quarterback in Kyle Shanahan’s system successfully, Young said.
