The 49ers locked down the fifth spot on their offensive line Sunday by agreeing to terms with guard Mike Person on a three-year contract extension, a league source told NBC Sports Bay Area.
Person, who was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, received $9 million with $3 million guaranteed in the contract, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch both expressed last week during the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis that they would like Person to remain with the team. They both have hope that Joshua Garnett could develop and reach his potential but recognize his history with injuries.
