In the days before San Francisco 49ers prepared for their Super Bowl 54 matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs, talk of an extension for superstar tight end George Kittle began to percolate. On an early February episode of "NFL GameDay," NFL Network reporter Mike Garafalo signaled that Kittle and the Niners were eager to make a deal.
"I am told by sources informed of the negotiations that are to come that they're gonna happen pretty soon," Garafalo said. "As soon as after the game."
Nearly four months after that ostensible burst of urgent negotiations, Kittle remains under his rookie contract, which is set to expire at the end of 2020.
