GLENDALE, Ariz. – The 49ers made it past midfield just once Sunday in their 47-7 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
In the second quarter, return man Jarryd Hayne fielded Drew Butler’s punt at the San Francisco 44-yard line and returned it 37 yards to the Cardinals’ 19. Three plays later, quarterback Colin Kaepernick scored on a 12-yard keeper for the 49ers' only points of the game.
Although Hayne might have supplied the highlight of the game for the 49ers, he was on the field for a total of just six plays. The former rugby league star played two snaps of offense and did not touch the ball.
