Snap count: Celek starts in place of Davis

SANTA CLARA – For the first time since tight end Vernon Davis’ rookie season, he did not start a game in which he appeared.

Garrett Celek was in the starting lineup on Sunday in the 49ers’ 25-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens. Celek played 46 snaps in the game, while Davis played just 34 of the 49ers’ 59 offensive snaps.

Davis was returning to action after sustaining a grade-1 medial collateral ligament sprain and bruised left knee against Arizona on Sept. 29. He did not suit up for the past two games due to the injury.

Davis, 31, a 10-year veteran in the final year of his contract, had one pass thrown his way and did not have a reception.
