SANTA CLARA — Richard Sherman’s defection to the 49ers became official Sunday with the signing of his three-year contract.
What did one Stanford graduate say upon hiring a fellow one? In the case of 49ers general manager John Lynch, he praised Sherman’s past, present and future.
“Richard is one of the premier competitors Kyle and I have ever encountered,” Lynch said in a statement announcing the deal. “We look forward to him sharing his wealth of experience and his passion for the game of football with our team.”
Sherman is, of course, no stranger to the 49ers.
