Sean McDonough to leave Monday Night Football

ESPN has announced that Monday Night Football commentator Sean McDonough is leaving that booth to return to college football. He will call various high profile college games, including the College Football Playoff semifinals. His work with Monday Night Football is officially over.

This creates a second opening with MNF. Earlier this offseason, color commentator Jon Gruden left to take over as head coach of the Oakland Raiders. Replacements have not been announced for either, but media writer John Ourand is reporting John Tessitore will take over the play-by-play duties.

McDonough was announced in 2016 as the replacement for long-time MNF announcer Mike Tirico, who had handled play-by-play duties for nearly a decade.
