Backup kickers rarely have a shot to land a spot on a 53-man roster, and such is the case for San Francisco 49ers kicker Nick Rose.
Rose ended up signing with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent following the 2016 NFL Draft. He didn’t make the Falcons’ regular-season roster that year and ended up spending the entirety of the season as a free agent.
But the Niners brought him in on a reserve/future contract in January 2017, as Eric Branch of SFGate.com (h/t CBS Sports) first reported.
Rose played all four collegiate years at Texas, where he managed 71 extra points on 74 attempts.
