Trying to land a job with an NFL team as an undrafted free agent is tough business. Fortunately, the San Francisco 49ers have gotten some pretty good production out of these kinds of players in recent years.
Case in point, running back Matt Breida, who went undrafted in 2017, emerged as the team’s starter last season and finished fourth in the league with an average of 5.3 yards per carry. Kendrick Bourne, also a 2017 UDFA, led the Niners wide receivers with 487 yards last season, while quarterback Nick Mullens helped carry San Francisco’s offense to three of the team’s four wins a year ago.
