OK, so the San Francisco 49ers‘ fourth and final preseason games of 2018 does have some meaning. Especially for the fringe players vying for what likely are the last handful of spots on the Niners’ regular-season roster.
In all reality, though, head coach Kyle Shanahan has most of the information he needs. Especially at running back, which has already gone through a number of twists since training camp.
Entering camp, one would have assumed four runners would be atop the competition for, most likely, three spots on the 53-man roster. No. 1 tailback, Jerick McKinnon, was a shoo-in after signing as a free agent this offseason.
