The San Francisco 49ers knew they had to get some depth at the running back position for the 2016 season after featured back Carlos Hyde was lost to a foot injury during the latter half of last year.

Instead of trying to dip into the free-agent market for someone outside of the organization, the 49ers looked to running back Shaun Draughn to be a continued piece in the team’s offense.
