Former San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Anthony Davis retired from the NFL, again, the team announced Monday.
Davis, who abruptly retired before prior to the 2015 season, spent all of last year giving his mind and body a chance to heal before filing for reinstatement in 2016. San Francisco owned Davis’ rights, but the former Niners’ first-round pick seemed at odds with the franchise at various points during his absence.
Nonetheless, Davis’ return from retirement seemed to be a welcomed addition for a 49ers offensive line needing reinforcement this season.
Davis didn’t immediately get his starting job back though.
