Let’s take a look at two units on offense, and let’s break down the running game and the offensive line. You can’t have one without the other.
Last season, the San Francisco 49ers running game, statistically, was ranked 21st in the league. There could be several reasons factoring into that ranking. However, the lack of health and quality depth of the offensive line, running backs and, most notably, featured back Carlos Hyde — who missed nine games — stick out the most.
The 49ers only averaged 96.5 yards a game on the ground, averaging 4.0 yards a carry, had just seven rushing touchdowns, a net amount of 1,544 rushing yards, eight fumbles and one lost, via ESPN.
