2015 will likely go down in history as one of those seasons the San Francisco 49ers and their fan base would like to forget.
Sixteen weeks through the year, the Niners hold a 4-11 record and will clinch last place in the NFC West for the first time since 2005 — another forgettable year in franchise history. Barring some incredulous output in the 49ers’ final game of the 2015 season, San Francisco will likely finish with the NFL’s worst offense and a defense that doesn’t rank much higher.
So what happened? What went wrong for the red and gold after a four-year span of being considered Super Bowl contenders?
