As expected, the San Francisco 49ers weren’t major players in free agency and focused either on re-signing some of their big-name pending free agents or adding some complementary pieces to bolster the depth and add some competition this offseason.
The big move, of course, was a trade between the Niners and Indianapolis Colts: sending away 2018 Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner in exchange for the No. 13 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
Trades have been part of general manager John Lynch’s arsenal of options dating back to him taking over the duties in 2017.
