Unlike last year, the 2020 San Francisco 49ers won’t be tabbed as massive overachievers. Head coach Kyle Shanahan’s squad isn’t coming off a four-win season and isn’t projected to finish the regular season hovering around the .500 mark.
Nope, instead the Niners are currently listed as ESPN’s third-best team heading into this season, according to the sports site’s Football Power Index, behind only the Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs and top-flight Baltimore Ravens.
Needless to say, it would be foolish to sleep on San Francisco.
Despite the expectation levels and the 49ers’ window for a Super Bowl now opened, there are always the chances for surprises.
