The San Francisco 49ers needed to cut four more players to reach the 75-mandated limit, and cut ties with two of four, as RT Erik Pears and TE Busta Anderson were released.
Pears who has been nothing short of a huge disappointment since coming to San Francisco as a free-agent, will now be looking for work via free-agency. The 49ers had hoped that Pears could be the swing tackle while doubling up as a solid offensive guard, but that never panned out.
Right after the draft selections of OT Fahn Cooper and OT John Theus, I wrote an article as to why I thought Pears would be released sooner rather than later.
