Keshawn Martin caught a seven-yard touchdown pass from Tom Brady in the first quarter of the Patriots’ final preseason game against the Giants on Sept. 1.
And it was all downhill from there.
Martin, who was fighting for a roster spot, later left the game with a foot injury, was released two days later and retreated to his native Michigan to rehab and wait for another chance in the NFL.
On Thursday, two days after he signed with the 49ers, the new wide receiver said he tried to remain upbeat during his 24-day unemployment.
