SANTA CLARA – Tyshun Samuel was the 49ers’ second-round draft pick because he plays wide receiver like the character after whom his nickname was inspired.
He is widely known as “Deebo,” the neighborhood bully from the 1995 movie “Friday,” which he has watched about a thousand times, Samuel said on The 49ers Insider Podcast.
“It all came from when I was a little kid,” said Samuel, who was born a year after the movie was released. “My father said I used to take stuff and bully kids when I was little, so he gave me the nickname 'Deebo.
