Richard Sherman to 49ers naysayers: ‘Stick to your word. We’re a terrible team’

Motivation comes from different sources for different people. For instance, the 1981 49ers who came off a 6-10 season and won the franchise’s first Super Bowl reveled in the historic, unaccountable, euphoric journey they were on.

“Every dog has its day,” offensive lineman Randy Cross said back then, “and right now it’s high noon for us.”

Richard Sherman comes for a different place. After the 49ers upset the defending conference champion Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Sherman pleaded for naysayers to double-down on their skepticism.

Mr. Sherman, the floor is yours

Richard Sherman asks the 49ers' doubters to please stick to their word.
