Former San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette has announced his retirement from the NFL. Lockette joined the Seahawks after his time with the 49ers, but suffered a neck injury Week 8 last season. He could not recover from the injury, and unfortunately had to retire.
Lockette signed with Seattle as an undrafted free agent. He was cut in 2012, and then joined the 49ers practice squad. He was released in 2013, and spent some time with the Chicago Bears, before returning to the Seahawks. He had little impact on the 49ers, but was notably a close friend of Colin Kaepernick.
