San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster has a high ankle sprain, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed on Monday. Foster sustained the injury early in the Week 1 game against the Carolina Panthers. Shanahan also confirmed that Foster would have to wear a boot, and declined to give a timetable for his return.
Foster participated in 11 defensive snaps before he went down with the injury, which at first looked very serious. He played well, which Shanahan echoed on Monday.
“He was playing well. Was around the ball a ton. Got close to a pick, and was near another one,” Shanahan said.
