SANTA CLARA Linebacker Reuben Foster left Sunday's game with what turned out to be a high-ankle sprain, according to a report by the NFL Network.
Foster said Sunday that he'd be back for next week's contest against the Seattle Seahawks. High-ankle sprains, however, can knock a player out of action for four to six weeks. A high-ankle sprain implies that when Foster's right leg twisted awkwardly in the first quarter Sunday, he likely tore the ligaments that span the two lower leg bones, the tibia and fibula.
Foster was leading the 49ers with thre tackles and a pass break-up when the incident occurred.
