The San Francisco 49ers are a running back short after losing Raheem Mostert to a broken arm, and they have figured out a short term plan. The team is expected to promote running back Matt Dayes from the practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The 49ers have until 1 p.m. PT to make a roster move for tonight’s game against the New York Giants. They promoted Greg Mabin to the active roster this past week, but needed to find another running back. Prior to this move, the only running backs on the roster were Matt Breida and Alfred Morris, with Kyle Juszczyk able to serve a dual role at fullback and third down running back.
