SANTA CLARA – Former 49ers running back Anthony Lynn is the first known candidate for the team’s vacant head-coaching position.
Lynn, the Buffalo Bills’ assistant head coach/running backs coach, is scheduled to interview with the 49ers this week, ESPN reported on Tuesday. Lynn has 16 seasons of NFL coaching experience.
Lynn, 47, played for the 49ers in 1995 and ’96. He saw action in all 16 games in his final season with the 49ers, mostly on special teams. He gained 164 yards on 24 rushing attempts. He finished his playing career with the Denver Broncos from 1997 to ’99, and was on two Super Bowl-winning teams.
