The San Francisco 49ers have not had superstar running back Christian McCaffrey with them for offseason OTAs, and the reigning Offensive Player of the Year is not expected to join the team at all for the voluntary summer workouts. Since McCaffrey’s current contract has a $200,000 workout bonus, his absence raised some questions about whether he was aiming to receive a new contract after one of the best seasons of his career.
Niners running backs coach Bobby Turner added some fuel to the fire earlier this week when asked about McCaffrey. “Physically,” Turner told NBC Sports Bay Area earlier this week.
