Report: 49ers’ DC target Gus Bradley lands with Chargers

On second thought, Gus Bradley decided to stick with his initial decision.

On Friday, ESPN reported the former Jaguars head coach was hired as the Chargers defensive coordinator after he was aggressively recruited by the 49ers.

Bradley, 50, initially wasn’t interested in the 49ers when it became clear they weren’t going to hire his former colleague, Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Cable as their head coach. However, the NFL Network reported Friday the 49ers persisted and raised their contract offer to Bradley, who was the Seahawks defensive coordinator from 2009-12 prior to his 14-48 tenure as Jacksonville’s head coach.
