Report: 49ers bringing in defensive back Jaylen Watkins

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers’ need for defensive backs prompted them to first sign Richard Sherman and next up could be Jaylen Watkins, a reserve on the Super Bowl champion-Philadelphia Eagles.

Watkins is expected to visit the 49ers facility on Wednesday, according to NFL Media.

The 49ers lack experience at cornerback, and while Watkins has played that role, he’s also versatile enough to play safety, where the 49ers are seemingly set with potential starters Jimmie Ward, Jaquiski Tartt and Adrian Colbert.

Eagles FA DB Jaylen Watkins visiting the 49ers tomorrow, source says. First of a few visits lined up for the versatile CB/S.
