It's the NFL offseason, a time when football fans are anxiously planning ahead for the future iteration of their favorite team. But it's also the portion of the NFL offseason in which the big-name free agents have been signed and the draft isn't for a few weeks, which begets some good old fashioned nostalgic thoughts too.

I didn't grow up in the Bay Area, but many of my SFGATE colleagues did, and they have fond memories of — and have heard wild stories about — a local relic: Muni bus trips to San Francisco 49ers games at Candlestick Park.
