When I was an impressionable lad, I believed everything I read in “Instant Replay” and saw on NFL Films.
I took it on faith that pro football was analogous to armed conflict, and that anyone who had anything to do with the game talked like John Facenda. Take a listen to the voice of God:
Could you blame me?
I especially liked the passage in “Instant Replay,” a groundbreaking body of work for its time, in which Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Jerry Kramer geeks himself up all week before going against Detroit Lions defensive lineman Alex Karras.
