The San Francisco 49ers lost a player off their practice squad on Wednesday. A day after the 49ers signed DuJuan Harris from the Baltimore Ravens practice squad, the Ravens returned the favor by signing safety Jermaine Whitehead from the 49ers practice squad.
The 49ers originally signed Whitehead this past May as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn. He never really had a significant chance at a roster spot given the 49ers depth and addition of Jaquiski Tartt. He has been on the practice squad through the first 14 weeks, but now gets to spend the rest of the regular season on the 53-man roster of an injury-riddled Ravens squad.
