SAN JOSE — The rape trial for former San Francisco 49ers star Dana Stubblefield began Monday, nearly four years after he was charged with sexually assaulting a developmentally disabled woman he invited to his Morgan Hill home to interview her as a prospective babysitter.
In their opening arguments, Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny and defense attorneys Ken Rosenfeld and Allen Sawyer laid out starkly divergent accounts of the April 9, 2015 encounter between Stubblefield and his accuser, referred to in court as Jane Doe.
